It’s time for the annual Academy of Management meeting and Emerald are playing an active part in the conference by hosting a number of events across the weekend. AoM 2017 runs from 4 – 8 August in multiple venues in Atlanta, Georgia, with the theme this year being ‘At the Interface’.
“Interface - a common boundary between systems, concepts or human beings. ‘At the Interface’ is an invitation to reflect on the many ways that interfaces separate and connect people and organizations, and to consider the consequences of those separations and interconnections.”
We will be at Booth 300 – 302 throughout the conference, and our special events start with a 50th anniversary celebration drinks reception at the Emerald booth on Friday 4 August from 6 – 8pm.
On Saturday 5 August there’s the opportunity to ask our Emerald experts everything you wanted to know about publishing at the ‘Drop in publishing clinic’. This will run between 1 – 2pm and will give writers the chance to meet acquisitions editors, journal publishers and marketers from Emerald and discuss the next steps to getting their work published. This is a valuable session that can expand on the online resources and ‘How to’ guides already available on the Emerald Publishing website.
Later on Saturday, 2:30 – 3:30pm there will be a session led by Associate Editor Lois Shelton (California State University Northridge, and Program Director & Director-at-Large, USASBE) on the International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behavior & Research (IJEBR). This journal has an international perspective on entrepreneurship and publishes content that brings together issues of interest to academic researchers and educators, policy makers and practitioners worldwide. IJEBR has recently been accepted into the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) which carefully selects and delivers the most influential scientific research information.
Emerald’s Sunday morning kicks off with an interesting session with Emerald Authors from the Business, Management and Strategy collection, including entrepreneurship titles. On 6 August from 10:45 – 11:45am, Emerald authors will be talking about their work on film in short video abstracts which will be shared on the Emerald Publishing website. This promises to be something different and worth popping in to take a closer look - all Emerald contributors are invited to tell their story!
Professor Emma Parry, series editor of The Changing Context of Managing People series will be at the Emerald booth on Sunday 6 August from 3:30pm to discuss ideas for future titles in the series and answer questions on submitting book proposals. Talking to the team at the Emerald booth is also a great chance to hear more about other books programmes like the new Emerald Points - short form research including think pieces and case studies, that provide a fast response to current affairs and contemporary issues.
To round off our special events, the annual Literati Networking Event celebrating the Emerald Literati Awards, including Awards for Excellence and Citations of Excellence, will take place on Sunday 6 August from 7 – 9pm at the Hilton Atlanta. The awards are now in their 24th year, rewarding the outstanding contributions of authors and reviewers. If you haven’t registered your attendance yet, please follow the instructions on the website linked below.
Along with these events, the Emerald team will be introducing the new eCase Collection at the event so come and say hello at the booth to find out more about Emerald’s latest products.
